He had an incredible amount of altitude on me so all I did for next 15-20 minutes was dodge everyone of this guys BnZ attempts. I spotted a trail waaaay above me and I ID'd it as a 109 of some sort. My second mission I went on a solo medium altitude patrol. The fist mission I flew I was escorting two IL2s and I got jumped/shot down almost immediately. I join the Russian team and choose the MiG-3. I started flying in the Wings of Liberty server, the game mode is similar to ROFs so I am somewhat familiar but I still really don't really know what I'm doing. So I just wanted to tell you, I took your advice. P.S.- Fly red fighters or German ground attack online, no one else does! ) I have the T16000m Hotas and honestly it's the pinky wheel on the throttle I love the most (I map it to zoom control) but all the hats sure are nice for engine management and trim.Įdit: I forgot! For the "shaky" feel, try to play with the response curves for your stick in the control settings! There are some good YouTube videos out there about it and it made a world of difference for me.

I play mostly late night/early mornig west coast time, and there's always a lot of players on WoL (it is actually full fairly often on Friday/Saturday nights).Īs long as you have TrackIR and some kind of Z axis (either twist-stick or pedals) you can totally get by. There are only a handful of popular servers, but the most popular (WoL and TAW) are always populated. There just isn't any easy way to fly meaningful co-op against the AI other than to fly in multiplayer servers that have AI population when no one else is on. I feel like pure co-op is the real weak part of the game. I have not flown Blazing Steppe yet, but I have thoroughly enjoyed Ten Days of Autumn and Sea Dragons, so I imagine Blazing Steppe is of the same caliber. Plus, the planeset in Stalingrad will get you by on the Moscow maps for multiplayer, but you'll really be hurting on the Kuban maps. Moscow and Stalingrad both have a very similar feel in both terrain and plane types, whereas Kuban feels very fresh and different. If you already have Stalingrad, I would definitely recommend Kuban. I do have TrackIR 5 so that's not a concern. I do plan on upgrading to a Thrustmaster T.16000M but I don't know if I should really make that a priority.

Q5 - I know that IL2 isn't necessarily DCS levels of realism but is a Logitech 3D pro a good enough joystick to competently play this? The planes feel a bit shaky and hard to keep in a straight line, I don't know if that's just me or not. Q4 - Hows the multiplayer community? is it dying or is there plenty of servers? Its hard for me to judge atm even though I own the game as I have only been playing at non peak hours (3-4am) due to my work schedule. Q3 - My buddy wants to pick up the game aswell and I am wondering how is the Co-op content for this game? Is there a lot of senarios to choose from or is it mainly user generated missions? Also is it easy to play together or do you have to mess about with creating dedicated servers or any other nonsense? Q2 - Is blazing steppe worth the money? I do enjoy single-player content from time to time. I see that the game is on a pretty decent sale atm and am wondering if I had to pick one what is the best completed module? Kuban or Moscow? Or should I hold off for another up coming module? I have a lot to learn but I am loving the game, however I do have some quick questions: I recently got into IL2:BOS even though I was a pre-order backer way back when.
